The Legion & History
Letter from Our President
On behalf of the 248 members of Branch # 1 of the Royal Canadian Legion I want to say thank you for visiting our site. We offer a wide range of services to our veterans, our members and the general public.
Our primary goals is keep the operation of our Legion viable. In order to achieve this we need to ensure our services are meeting the needs of the people using them. We are committed to excellence and encourage you to use our services, to help us achieve our goals.
As you look through our webpage I would encourage you to make contact with us and see if we have what meets your needs. Our staff and volunteers would be pleased to discuss any of the services we offer.
Our facility is centrally located, with ample parking and can accommodate almost any function that you may want. Each year we host dozens of wedding receptions, Christmas dinners, parties, barbecues, wedding and baby showers, training seminars, and public information sessions and we are looking to expand these services.
Being able to help and offer support to our veterans and their families is very important to us and we thank you for considering the Royal Canadian Legion , Branch #1 for your upcoming event. In addition, each year we assist veterans in need, through our annual Annual Poppy Campaign. We hope you will wear your poppy proudly, in support of all those veterans who sacrificed so much, so that we as Canadians, can live in freedom.
What We Do
Royal Canadian Legion Branch #1 received its Charter in 1950. Prior to that time the branch was known as the Great War Veterans Association. The Legion is one of the country’s largest service organizations . Our mission statement is to serve veterans and their dependants , promote remembrance and act in the service of Canada and its communities. The Royal Canadian Legion reminds us to never forget the men and women who paid the supreme sacrifice and for those still serving so that we can live with the many freedoms that we as Canadians enjoy today.
